16 vehicles with advt billboards removed from roadside

PANJIM: The Department of Transport and Goa Police have removed as many as 16  mobile vehicles with advertising billboards with digital screens found parked along the roadside and highways causing distraction to motorists and others.

This was stated by the Department of Transport in its compliance report filed on Friday before the High Court of Bombay at Goa, who is hearing a suo motu writ petition regarding illegal hoardings across the State.

The compliance report states that the Goa Police department has removed 11 mobile vehicles while, the department of transport submitted that it has removed five vehicles found parked along the roadside, junctions and highways. 

Thus a total of 16 vehicles have been removed from the roadside. It means that the vehicles will not be parked at roadside, footpaths or road intersections. They can be kept

at some other places where they do not distract the public. 

During the last hearing, the High Court had asked both – the department of transport and the Goa Police to remove mobile vehicles with advertising billboards with digital screens found parked along the roadsides, footpaths, junctions or intersections and to file compliance report on May 10, regarding the removal of such vehicles.

During the hearing, it was also informed that there were 91 mobile vehicles registered till date having advertising billboards with digital screens. The matter has been posted for further hearing on June 14.
