Ponda: Thomaciano Vaaz (39), a resident of Maingal Shiroda was arrested by the Ponda police for molesting a 16-year-old girl.
The incident occurred on August 31 when the accused who was known to the victim and her family came to their house in Shiroda at 3 pm after the girl returned home from her higher secondary school and told her that he is an expert in operating a air gun and offered to train her.
The girl unaware of his intention agreed to his offer and went with him. The accused took her to a field in Shiroda and handed her a air gun and on pretext of training molested her. The girl returned home shocked following the ordeal and remained quiet about the incident for almost three days.
The mother after observing her daughter’s indifferent behaviour questioned her and after a lot of efforts the daughter finally narrated the incident.
Ponda Police Sub Inspector Melson Colaco registered an offence against the accused who was later arrested. Further investigations are in progress.
