16-year-old Salcete school student kidnapped

Based on the complaint by the girl’s mother, Fatorda Police register an offence against an unknown person under IPC and Goa Children’s Act

MARGAO:  A 16-year-old school student was allegedly kidnapped by an unknown person from a village in Salcete taluka while she was walking on the road.

According to the Fatorda Police,  based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, an offence under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC has been registered against the unidentified person. 

Late Wednesday night, the police informed that after verifying the girl’s age, relevant Sections of the Goa Children’s Act have been added.

The police said that the victim’s mother in her complaint has provided the details of her daughter as she failed to return home, following which a case of kidnapping was registered. 

The police said that the girl’s mother  in her  complaint stated that her daughter was kidnapped from her lawful guardianship  by an unknown person. But she has not given any details of the suspect or his description. 

When asked whether the mother suspects any person, the police said that she has not mentioned the description of the accused in her complaint. However, the police said that based on the description of the girl, they have flashed wireless messages to all police stations across Goa and the neighbouring States, in a bid to trace them. It is learnt that initially a missing complaint was filed at the Fatorda Police Station and later the victim’s mother filed a case of kidnapping against the unknown person.
