PANJIM: While there was a blanket ban on new recruitments, the then Laxmikant Parsekar government granted service extensions to 17 officers in 10 months before the State went to the polls on February 4, 2017. Of the 17 extensions in government service, most were at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Directorate of Health Services (DHS).
Bhaskar Nayak, Principal of Government College of Art, Science and Commerce Quepem, was earlier granted two extensions of six months each, has been given another month’s extension till May 31, 2017. His last extension period expired on April 30, 2017.
Eight doctors, including five who have got extension till the age of 62, include Dr Santosh P Naik, Sr Surgeon of DHS, Dr Vasco Teles, Medical Officer of DHS, Dr Kishor Nagvenkar, resident Microbiologist Department of Pathology of GMCH, Dr Doreen C Dias, Sr Psychiatrist of DHS and Dr Celina Noronha Barbosa, Medical officers of DHS.
The services of Dr Dilip P Amonkar, Professor & Head Department of Surgery in GMCH and Dr Padma Bhandare, Associate Professor in Pharmacology at GMCH have been extended till the age of 65. Dr Ajit D Dinkar, Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology of Goa Dental College and Hospital has got an extension of one year which will expire on July 31, 2017.
Besides the services of doctors, the government had also extended the service period of S R Paranjape, Chief Engineer of Public Works Department, N P Signapurkar (GCS) whose service period expired on January 31, 2017, Prakash A N Gurav, Superintending Engineer of PWD and Chief Secretary R K Srivastava whose service periods had also expired on December 31, 2016.
An extension given to P S Bodke, State Registrar and Head of Notary Services, will expire on May 31, 2017, while extension of Valsala Vijayan, Dy Resident Commissioner will expire on September 30, 2017.
Of 17 officers who have got the extension since May 1, 2016 in services, 12 still continue to be in service.
