VASCO: Around 17 passengers travelling by a tourist bus were injured when the bus in which they were travelling overturned while negotiating a turn, while climbing a slope, at Bogmalo, on Thursday afternoon.
Police Sub-Inspector Swapnil Naik said that the bus was heading towards Dabolim from Bogmalo with 38 passengers onboard.
“The incident reported at around 2 pm, when the ill-fated bus, bearing registration number- GA-08-V-1789, while heading towards Dabolim direction from Bogmalo Beach, went off the road, while negotiating a turn, while climbing a slope. The people residing in the vicinity rushed to the rescue of the trapped passengers. Altogether, 17 passengers were shifted to Sub District Hospital at Chicalim by two different ambulances. Eight of them have been discharged while nine of them were shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim,” PSI Naik told.
According to police, the driver lost its control over the bus while speeding towards Dabolim, resulting to overturn the bus by the roadside. The injured passengers are from Chhattisgarh and were participants in an event in Goa. They had checked in a resort and were heading towards some other location via Dabolim, but tragically met with an accident.
The Vasco police have conducted panchanama of the accident and have registered a case against the driver of bus, who fled away from the site.
