Panjim: In a distressing turn of events, a 17-year-old boy has been remanded to Apna Ghar’s juvenile facility on charges of allegedly raping his underage neighbor, a 15-year-old girl. Both individuals reside in a well-to-do residential society on the outskirts of Panjim and are acquainted with each other, reportedly bonding over their shared interest in badminton.
The shocking revelation came to light when the victim’s parents, concerned about their daughter’s well-being, took her to Goa Medical College. Medical examinations confirmed that the 15-year-old girl was 24 weeks pregnant, prompting immediate police intervention.
According to police sources, the victim and the accused, both accomplished badminton players, share a history of acquaintance and live in the same posh residential society. The accused, a participant in state-level tournaments, now faces serious charges following the allegations made against him.
Following the confirmation of the girl’s pregnancy, an FIR was promptly registered at the women’s police station. Subsequently, the 17-year-old boy was brought before the Juvenile Justice Board at Apna Ghar, which decided to remand him to the facility pending further legal proceedings.
