17-yr-old drowns at Ashwem Beach

PERNEM: A 17-year-old native of Wadala Maharashtra and student of Amity College, Panvel-Mumbai, died after drowning at Ashwem Beach on Sunday. The deceased teenager was identified as Yash Dipak Singh Pardeshi. 
According to Pernem police, the incident took place on Sunday evening when a group of eight students ventured into sea to have bath at Junas Wada, Ashwem Beach. Initially six out of eight students in pairs managed to come out on the shore, however the deceased and another girl who had gone deep inside were found drowning. 
Immediately, a Drishti lifeguard was called and he managed to rescue the girl but by that time the boy was already washed out with strong waves. Drishti then conducted search operation of the missing body. The body was later recovered on Monday morning.
After conducting the post mortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to the family. Police Inspector Sandesh Chodankar said a group of students had come to Goa to attend a programme and had later gone to Mandrem for an outing. Police Sub Inspector Aditya Naik Gaonkar investigated the case.
