PONDA: Ponda police have arrested an 18-year-old boy for alegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl in a car at Bethora on Friday.
In a complaint to the police, the victim’s father claimed that between 1.30 and 2.30 pm, the accused Vijay Kantappa Bhiradar, a Karnataka native, forced his daughter into a vehicle belonging to his father and had forcible sexual intercourse with her, due to which she began to bleed profusely from her private parts.
The victims’ family initially believed that she had fallen and suffered injuries. They admitted her to the Ponda Sub District Hospital, where the doctors believed it to be an incident of rape. The parents suspected the accused, who had been in contact with the family.
Ponda police registered a case under Sections 363, 342 and 376 of IPC, Section 8(ii) of the Goa Childrens Act 2003 and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 against the accused, who has been remanded to 10 days custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Ponda. Further investigation is in progress.
