19 business firms issued notice for noise pollution

MAPUSA: Acting on the complaint and evidences provided by the locals of Assagao and Anjuna, Bardez Deputy Collector Kapil Phadte issued show cause notice to 19 hotels and bar and restaurants over noise pollution.

The list of 19 business establishments whom the notice is issued are Hill Top, Chronicles Beach Shack, Larive Beach Resort, Banyan Tree, Bomay Adda, Antares Beach Resort, Sunburn Beach Club, UV Bar and Restaurant, Pirate Cafe(Hippies Ocena Park), Curlies, Shiva Valley, Cafe Lilliput, Aura Beach Resort, Pinakin, Disco Valley, Thalasa (Teso), Dream Beach Cafe, Jungle Origens Restaurant and Nine Bar and Restaurant.

The villagers claimed that the parties which commence at the sunset conclude on the next day morning. The hotels play loud music while violating the noise pollution rules.

The complainant Desmond Alvares said, “For several years we have been raising this issue but till date none of the authorities have bothered to take cognizance of the same. The parties continued unabated with Anjuna Police till today reporting ‘No Noise’ to PCR, which is false.’

 “Though the present Deputy Collector has promised to take action on the memorandum, I will wait and watch, failing which I will approach the NGT with all the evidence. The Chief Minister, DGP, IGP are all aware of it since I have already communicated the same to them,” informed Alvares.

“I have been receiving threats from these rave party organisers. Tomorrow if anything happens to me then the authorities should be held responsible for the same,” Alvares claimed.

Deputy Collector I Kapil Phadte said that complaint was received of noise pollution from Assagao, Anjuna resident and acting on the complainant, show cause notices are issued to 19 violators.

“We have been receiving many complaints and will crack down on the violators and take action,” said the Deputy Collector.
