In the ensuing melee, the properties of two hotels and a fast food outlet were also damaged and four persons have been arrested.
According to Mapusa police, Harsh Rai, a worker at Govind Restaurant, complained that Abhishek Patker, Sumit Phadte and Ramkrishna Thakur had assaulted him on Wednesday at about 11.30 pm. Police said the incident took place when Patker, who was seated with his friends, Sumit Phadte and Ramkrisna Thakur, in the Restaurant, entered into an argument with Rai.
When Chadan Palni, who was also seated in the restaurant, intervened to diffuse the trouble, Patker allegedly abused him, claiming that he had no business to interfere between him and Rai. In the ensuing fight, a bottle was struck on the head of Palni and Harsh was also assaulted in the incident.
Later, Patker, Phadte and Thakur were accused of damaging hotel property and nearby Trisah Hotel and Bismillah Fast Food.
Mapusa Police have registered an offence against Patker, Phadte and Thakur and also Palni. Police is investigating the case.
