BELGAUM: After causing a health scare in other parts of India, Swine Flu has touched Belgaum district as two cases of the dreaded disease have been reported.
According to the district health department, a woman and a child have been infected.
In order to arrest the spread of the dreaded disease, authorities have issued a high alert in the district and have warned people to take stringent preventive measures.
Health authorities had sent swabs of six persons for inspection on February 14 and District Surveillance Officer Jagdish Nucchin told reporters that while a 22-year-old woman from Chikkodi taluka and a 12-year-old child from Belgaum city tested positive for Swine Flu, the reports in other four cases turned negative.
Authorities have also commenced awareness campaign in the district.
