PANJIM: The Judicial Magistrate First Class, Sanguem, has convicted two persons for robbing a Mollem youth at gunpoint last year, while the third accused has been acquitted. The magistrate will pronounce the quantum of sentence on Tuesday.
The case dates back to January 17, 2013, when Mohan Gawali, 28, was stopped by four unidentified persons on National Highway 4-A towards Mollem and robbed of electronic gadgets and cash.
Two of the robbers met with an accident and were lying on the road. An alert constable, P M Sawant, who was passing by saw the two and noticed a pistol on the waist of the pillion rider. He then informed the matter to the nearest police out post. In the meantime another two more persons arrived on the spot and tried to lift the injured. They too were detained by the alert constable. Thereafter it came to light Baldev Singh Jayesh Kalbhore, Imtiyaz Makander and a juvenile were involved in a robbery at Cansaulim, Mollem, and escaped from the spot with robbed items and a scooter all worth Rs 60,000.
The accused were charge-sheeted under different sections the IPC The juvenile was sent to Apna Ghar.
