A trip to their native town of Yellapur proved tragic for a group employed in Goa, when three persons died while two others were seriously hurt in a road mishap near Hebbula-Ankola on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, the five persons along with the driver were proceeding in a Maruti van when the vehicle and a truck collided with each other.
Srinath Hebbar (28) of Malavalli-Yellapur, Vijay N Hegde (22) of Ummachagi and the van driver Narayan Bhat (33) of Malavalli died on the spot, while Devaru Hegde (29) and his wife Teja (20) were seriously injured.
Srinath Hebbar worked as a priest in Mapusa, while the others were also employed in Goa. The truck driver fled from the scene and the Ankola police is investigating the case.
