MARGAO: While people were busy preparing for Christmas in Salcete, Chandor Cavorim Panchayat managed to nab two persons not residing in Chandor, dumping their garbage near Alma Khuris in Chandor and fined an amount of Rs 10,000 from both the parties.
The persons we identifed as Mazum Shaikh from Curchorem and Roopali Naik who had come from Chandrawado in Fatorda. It may be recalled that earlier the panchayat had collected Rs 27,000 by way of fine for dumping garbage in the village. Sarpanch Edward D’Silva said the fine will henceforth be increased to at least Rs 10,000.
