Continuing its offensive against the drug trafficking in the State, the Goa Police Anti-Narcotics Cell on Wednesday arrested two persons and seized contrabands worth Rs 1.07 lakh, in a late night raid yesterday, at Arambol.
Officials in the Anti Narcotics Cell told Herald that the raid was conducted after receiving specific information yesterday between 11 pm and 1.30 am.
Two persons namely – Antomarian (24) son of Felix D’Souza, resident of Girkarwaddo Arambol and Biplab Sarkar (34), son of Shachindra Sarkar, and resident of Bombay Bar and Restaurant Kapem, Arambol, were arrested in the raid near Bombay bar and Restaurant, at Arambol.
The ANC found the duo in possession of 520 gms charas (worth Rs 52000) and 550 gms charas (worth 55000) respectively.
The officials said the duo had come to deliver the consignment to a customer.
The ANC had kept surveillance on the two for some time and wanted to arrest them red handed, officials said.
In this connection an offence has been registered under the NDPS Act at ANC police station.
