Two men ended the old year getting assaulted by an irate mob and ushered in the New Year in police lock-up, when they were arrested on charges of molesting minor girls from Khapsha-Panchawadi in Shiroda on Friday night.
According to Ponda police, the two accused, Adolf Rodrigues and Mohammad Christy, were arrested after locals complained that both were filming video clips of minor girls and allegedly molested them.
According to reports, the two accused began recording video clips of minor girls on their camera at about 9 pm. Sensing trouble, the girls ran home and reported the matter to their family. A group of villagers rushed to the site and confronted the two youth. When the accused could not give them a satisfactory explanation, an irate mob assaulted them and also damaged the car allegedly used by the accused.
They were later handed over to Ponda police.
