MOPA: Two houses located at the Nagzar-Mopa junction were demolished to make way for the widening of road proceeding towards Mopa. The two houses owned by the Padloskar and Tulaskar families were causing obstacles in widening the existing road leading to Mopa airport.
As the work of the Mopa airport is in final stages, the PWD on Wednesday demolished both the houses in presence of the family members. Sources from the Mamlatdar office informed that the work is being carried out under procurement policy under which the families have given their consent.
One house is owned by Vivek Tulaskar who was staying along with his wife, while the other house is owned by Uday Padloskar who was staying in the house along with his brother and aged mother. The families have now shifted to rented houses in the Nagzar village itself.
Sources informed that the affected families will be rehabilitated and given compensation and till the procedure is completed, they will stay in the rented houses. This period may extend to even two years and till they are rehabilitated the government will provide them with an amount of Rs 2.40 lakhs to pay their monthly house rent for two years.
Pernem Deputy Collector Deepak Vaigankar said, “We have already forwarded the proposal of the rehabilitation and compensation to the concerned department. The families will be provided with rehabilitation and compensation which includes a plot of 300 sq mt and compensation amount for construction of house.”
