BICHOLIM: Two houses belonging to Krishna Govind Tari and Prakash Govind Tari were damaged in a fire reported on Thursday at Sal, Bicholim causing them a loss of Rs 6 lakh.
However, timely arrival of Bicholim firemen saved property worth Rs 1 lakh.
According to Bicholim fire brigade officials, they received a call at around 10.25 am about the incident.
A team led by station fire officer Shripad Gawas, LF Rajan Parab along with firemen Shailesh Salkar, Rupesh Gawas, Ramchandra Malik, Rupesh Pal, Sainath Kesarkar and Baburao Gawas rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Household items including furniture, refrigerator, fans, clothes and other belongings were gutted. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, fire brigade personnel said.
