MAPUSA: Two persons were injured, one seriously, in an accident between a Maruti Omni van and a 108 Emergency Ambulance at Uccasaim, on Tuesday evening.
The ambulance was transporting one Dilip Ghadi, who broke his hands and legs after falling from a tree, to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim. The Maruti van that was proceeding to the village reportedly went on the wrong lane and dashed against the ambulance.
Ghadi was accompanied by his wife and servant Sunita Virnodkar.
Omni driver Thomas Rodrigues received serious injuries in the accident, while the servant Virnodkar suffered minor injuries. Virnodkar was later taken to Aldona Health Centre.
The accident left Rodrigues trapped in the vehicle and was rescued by Mapusa fire personnel. Fire sources said that Rodrigues was drunk.
Meanwhile, Dilip Ghadi died in GMC while undergoing treatment.
