PANJIM: Two senior police inspectors – one of whom is investigating massive scam in the Police Training School (PTS) involving SP Atmaram Deshpande and another officer tracking whereabouts of the absconding ex-minister Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco, are among 10 PIs transferred on Tuesday.
Vigilance/Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) PI Braz Menezes, heading investigation into alleged irregularities in the PTS work tender scam has been transferred to Colva Police Station. His transfer incidentally comes, a couple of days after he registered preliminary inquiry in the case against Deshpande.
While Colva PI Uttam Raut Dessai – who has been heading the police team to arrest Mickky – convicted and sentenced to six months jail in the JE assault case, is shunted to Special Branch, Margao. Dessai had camped in Delhi for nearly a week to track movements of the legislator while his plea before Supreme Court, seeking relief was pending hearing, last month.
Agassaim PI Pravin Pawar, who recently sent a written request to his higher-ups seeking transfer on medical grounds, has been posted to State Police Control Room, Panjim. Collem PI Jivba Dalvi replaces Pawar, while Ponda Traffic Cell PI Nilesh Dhaigodkar replaces Dalvi at Collem.
Similarly, Panjim PI Rajendra Prabhudessai, who was reportedly unhappy over allegations of matka bribery against his staff, is posted to Crime Branch. He has been replaced by CB PI Siddhant Shirodkar.
PIs Gurudas Kadam is transferred to Traffic Cell, Ponda from his current place of posting at ACB/Vigilance; C L Patil to Margao Town PS exchanges his posting with Sudesh Naik, who now takes the charge as Ponda PI. SIT PI Dattaguru Sawant has been given additional charge as CB PI.
