2 killed in Mollem mishap

The driver and cleaner of a Karnataka-bound truck died in an accident when the truck fell into a valley along the Panjim-Belgaum highway near the Dudhsagar temple, about 8 kms from the Mollem outpost on Friday at about 9 pm.
According to Collem Police Inspector Monoj Mardolkar, the mishap took place as the truck (KA-25-B-9967) was proceeding from Mollem to Belgaum.
As the truck reached Dudhsagar, the driver lost control of the vehicle at a sharp curve, which is an accident-prone zone, and the truck fell into a valley. The driver Jagdish Gurrappa Godi (35) of Novalcond in Dharwad-Karnataka and cleaner, Basavraj Maruthi Budnar, (32)from Anant Nagar in Hubli-Karnataka died on the spot.
PI Mardolkar along with a police team comprising Pralhad Mirashi, Pradeep Gauns, Vinod Halgekar, Hasant Patel, Premanand Sawant and Deepak Korgaunkar went to the spot and removed the bodies with the help of a fire brigade from Curchorem.
The bodies were shifted to the GMC for an autopsy and were later handed over to relatives for the final rites.
