MARGAO: Valley D’Costa from Tilamol and Amit Gawandi, the two main accused in the Shaikh Anwar assault case on Thursday surrendered before the Fatorda Police following investigations and pressure.

It may be recalled that on February 16th a gang had allegedly attacked Anwar Shaikh at Fatorda, who even sustained injury to his leg after being shot. Anwar was saved due to the timely presence of DySP Sammy Tavares.

Earlier, the police arrested Ricky Hornekar, Vipul Pattari from Khareband and five others from Kolhapur.

However, since then, police have been on the lookout for Valley and Amit, who surrendered today. Fatorda PI Kapil Nayak said they were calling their friends and relatives besides questioning those who were in touch with the accused.

“The sustained pressure on their kith and kin forced the two to surrender today after they withdrew their anticipatory bail applications which were to be heard today,” Nayak added.
