PANJIM: After a colossal underachievement in a year when they could have formed a government, the Congress now talks of winning 27 seats in 2027 and two Lok Sabha seats.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar on Thursday said, “We are targeting all 40 Assembly seats.” Patkar was meeting media persons after the recent two-day ‘Nav Sankalp Shibir’ and said, “The Congress party will target all the 40 constituencies for the 2027 Assembly elections and declare their candidates much prior to the date of declaration of the elections.”
Former Congress president Girish Chodankar sang the same tone three years ago when he spoke of the Congress getting a clear majority. The rest is history.
Informing about the resolutions passed in the ‘Nav Sankalp Shibir’, GPCC secretary Shrinivas Khalap said, “The action plan to win both the Lok Sabha seats in 2024 and 27 seats in Goa Assembly Elections 2027 were the major ones.”
Alleging that government machinery is being misused by the Modi government, Khalap said the resolution to condemn the politically motivated action of the Modi government of sending the Enforcement Directorate notice to Sonia Gandhi was passed in ‘Navi Sankalp’ workshop.
Claiming that the vote bank politics is the key factor responsible for destroying the State’s communal harmony, Gomes said, “Few sensible leaders still exist in BJP. I would like to request these few to stop doing vote bank politics and to preserve Goa’s communal harmony.”
“Goy Joduya Ani Ekvotan Ravuya”, slogan was also released. Mahila Congress president Beena Naik and Congress Youth president Varad Mardolkar were present.
