PANJIM: Four days after the State government restricted Chief Town Planner (CTP) ST Puttaraju to the Land Use Division of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department, it has appointed two more Chief Town Planners.
As per the latest order Rajesh Naik has been appointed CTP (Planning) and James Mathew CTP (Admin).
As per the latest amendment to the Goa Town and Country Planning Act, the government has divided the department into three divisions – administration, land use and planning.
For the past one month, differences had begun to crop up between TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai and Puttaraju.
The Minister was upset as Puttaraju had failed to submit a report on illegal conversions of land, and for issuing a letter to the PWD executive engineer stating that the State Highway-8 passing through Chandor was notified in the official gazette on February 17, 1977, although the same has been shown in the Regional Plan 2021 based on the 2001 plan. Sardesai has been opposing the State highway project.
