PANJIM: Even as the Goa Police are carrying out an extensive verification drive to inspect documents of all foreign nationals living in the state, two Nigerians were picked up from the Kadamba bus terminus in Panjim for allegedly not carrying valid documents.
Police sources said the duo had approached a travel agency for inter-state bus tickets to leave the state after the police began a crack down on foreigners, who are illegally overstaying in Goa.
“We received a call that two Nigerians without any valid documents in their possession were at the bus terminus. A team which was sent, brought them to the police station,” said an officer.
The foreigners told the police they have their passports but could not produce it at the time they were picked up. “Once they produce the passports, we will verify and decide the further course of action,” the officer said.
