VASCO: Two passengers, who had arrived at the Dabolim International Airport on Monday, were duped to the tune of Rs 7.70 lakh on the pretext of providing them a taxi on rent.
The fraudster fled with their bags containing two mobile phone handsets and other belongings all amounting to Rs 7.70 lakh.
According to information given by the Dabolim Airport Police, the unidentified person approached them and asked them whether they wanted a taxi on hire.
As they were in a discussion, the accused without their knowledge, stole a leather handbag containing gold worth Rs seven lakh, two mobile phone handsets, Rs 70,000 in cash and ATM cards.
The Dabolim Airport Police registered a case against the unknown person under Sections 379 of IPC and Police Inspector V N Patil is conducting investigation under guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
