PONDA: Fire personnel on Tuesday rescued two of the four passengers after a bus proceeding from Borivali-Mumbai to Margao fell on its side while negotiating the Bythokhol-Borim Circle.
However, a major tragedy was averted as local fruit vendors had gone for lunch when the accident took place. The locals claimed that this is fifth such accident at Bythokhol-Borim Circle and luckily the fruit and vegetable vendors had gone for lunch.
They claimed that the cargo was loaded atop the bus which fell on its side near a roadside kiosk. A scooter parked at the spot was also damaged in the accident. The driver fled soon after the accident.
