PONDA: The bodies of two students from Curti who met their watery grave on Monday at Occambi River, Dharbandora were retrieved by the Navy, Fire Personnel and Police team after rigorous search operation, on Tuesday.
The students of Class X studying at Curti school were 16-year-old Saniya Mulla and 17-year-old Pradeep Malavankar, who had drowned while they had gone for picnic along with group of seven students.
The boy drowned in attempt to save the girl. The Police and Fire Personnel team tried their best on Monday but could not trace the bodies. However, on Tuesday early morning the team of Navy, Fire Personnel and Police resumed search operation and after an hour retrieved the body of boy while at around 1 pm the body of girl was recovered after rigorous search.
During the search operation, the families of both deceased were present. The families of the students informed that all the students were giving one or another excuses and had gone for a picnic without informing their respective family members.
Pradip’s father is said to be a native of Karwar, who settled in Goa 30 years back, while Saniya’s family are residents of Curti.
