2 UP natives held for rider’s death in Dhargalim hit-and-run case

Accused identified as Mohit Kumar (19) and Abhishek Kumar (20), both from Bulandshahr

PANJIM: The Pernem Police arrested two Uttar Pradesh natives in connection with hit-and-run incident at Dadachiwadi, Dhargalim, which killed a 55-year-old man on Sunday night.

The accused have been identified as Mohit Kumar (19) and Abhishek Kumar (20), both from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.

The police said during investigation it was revealed that the deceased Devidas Konadkar was killed by the accused.

According to SDPO, Pernem, Jivba Dalvi, the Pernem Police tracked the goods carrier vehicle, which was involved in the hit-and-run incident with the assistance of locals and rounded up the suspects.

During investigation and interrogation, it was revealed that on May 12, 2024, at around 9 pm, the accused parked their rickshaw in a dangerous position on the road curve, hampering smooth flow of traffic. 

Devidas, who was present there, confronted the goods carrier rickshaw driver. The accused got angry and ran after Devidas, who left the spot on his two-wheeler. The accused followed him in the goods carrier rickshaw and on reaching Dadachiwadi, they intentionally rammed into Devidas’ scooter and dragged him to some distance and fled. Devidas succumbed to his injuries. 

The body Devidas was handed over to his relative after the post mortem examination.

PI Pernem Sachin Lokre is investigating the case under the supervision of SP, North, Akshat Kaushal IPS and Pernem SDPO, Jivba Dalvi.
