CURCHOREM: Previous enmity provoked violent retaliation when two minor boys allegedly murdered their 22-year-old friend from Guddemol-Sanvordem in the forest at Guddemol.
Both minor boys have been arrested in this connection.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police S R Goltekar, the two 17-year-old boys gave Prashal Devidas some alcoholic drink and took him to a nearby forest on the pretext of answering nature’s call. They assaulted him till he became unconscious and than the accused allegedly strangulated Devidas with a leather belt.
Police said both minors have confessed to the crime and informed police in the presence of NGO member Maria that the deceased had previously beaten one of them. In retaliation, they decided to take revenge and took the victim to the forest, where they killed him.
In a bid to divert attention, police said one of the boys informed people in a nearby bar that he had sighted a body in the jungle. The news spread and some persons informed the police about the body.
Curchorem Police rushed to the site and recovered the highly decomposed body and summoned family members of the deceased for identification, as they had filed a missing complaint on June 17.
Police informed that Devidas’ father recognized the body on the basis of a shirt found on the body of the deceased.
During investigation, police found an eye witness who had seen the deceased along with the two minors proceeding towards the jungle.
According to Curchorem PI Ravindra Dessai, the case has been registered under Section 302 read with 34 of the IPC.
“Both the juveniles will be sent to Apna Ghar after medical tests,” informed PI
