The central round of the 23rd Shenoi Goembab Storytelling Competition organised by Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa will be held on 24th August. Due to the overwhelming response to the competition, the competition has been organized at the district level for the past few years. The district level round will be held at Konkani Bhasha Mandal in Margao on 01 September at 9.00 am and the state-level competition will be held on the same day in the evening.
The central-level competition will be held at a total of 18 centers. The competition will be held at 12 centers in 12 talukas of Goa and additional centers at Cuncolim, Bardez, Ponda, Tiswadi, and Margao. Some schools in Salcete and Quepem talukas have been included in the Cuncolim center. A total of more than 160 judges and more than 300 volunteers will work to make the competition a success, said Ratnamala Divkar, Acting President of KBM.
The competition will be organised in three groups namely, 1st to 4th, 5th to 7th, and 8th to 10th. Many schools have responded enthusiastically to the KBM’s call to conduct competitions in schools first. KBM thinks that the schools should send the school-level winners to the central level and KBM will also give certificates to these contestants at the school level. The competition is also open to students with special abilities. Special school students can participate in the competition by visiting any storytelling center and submitting an entry.
Many parents, teachers, and others write their own new stories as part of a storytelling competition. Therefore, this year KBM has announced a separate story writing competition. Ratnamala Divkar appealed to the writers of new stories to submit a copy of the story along with information and an affidavit to the coordinators of the respective centers. The story writing competition will be judged at the state level.
All the information and rules regarding the story contest have been conveyed to all primary and secondary schools in Goa. For more information contact Shalaka Desai, coordinator at 9049750869 or co-coordinator Yatin Naik at 9823938121.
