24 booked in Anjuna for not completing police verification

PANJIM: The Anjuna Police on Thursday booked 24 persons found living in Goa without completing police verification. This came to light when the Anjuna police were ‘walking the beat’ in their jurisdiction of the coastal village.

During patrolling, the police team visited various construction sites and rented rooms in the Anjuna area which were given to tenants from outside Goa, without proper documentation.

During the drive, the police checked the verification status of around 100 people and rounded up 24 persons for staying in Goa without tenant verification. All 24 were booked under relevant provisions of law.

Meanwhile, to curb illegal activities on the Arambol beach stretch, a special drive was conducted, during which three foreign nationals and two Indians were caught red-handed while selling consumer goods on the beach, without the necessary permissions. The act was in violation of the orders passed by the Director of Tourism, with regard to preventing illegal tourism activities. These persons were booked by the team headed by the Pernem PI.
