MOPA: A devastating head-on collision between 2 two- wheelers in Kasarvarne, on Wednesday morning, resulted in the tragic death of a young woman. The fatal accident, occurred at Kasarvarne, in Pernem, adding to the string of recent road tragedies in the area. This is the third accident at Kasarvane and the second fatality reported in March 2024, highlighting the pressing need for enhanced road safety measures in the area.
The collision, which took place at 8 am, involved a female rider and a male rider traveling in opposite directions. According to sources, Sujata Satardekar, 24 was on her way to work and proceeding from Nagzar to Hasapur, while the male rider Frazer Mascarenhas, 22, was proceeding from Hasapur to Nagzar. Police Police Inspector Narayan Chimbulkar stated that Satardekar was overtaking a vehicle upon which she reached the right side of the road and hit Mascarenhas.
Satardekar received severe head injuries after her non ISI helmet cracked. She died on the spot.
The male rider sustained critical injuries and was swiftly transported to the nearest hospital for urgent medical attention by local commuters, who promptly notified the authorities. The woman was first taken to PHC Kasarvane and then to Goa Medical College for post mortem. The body was then handed over to the relatives.
