25-member team leaves for Kerala with relief materials

Four doctors and six nurses part of the team

MARGAO: A team of 25 people including doctors and nurses left for Chengannur District of Kerala on Sunday to provide the flood affected people with medical and other relief. Organised by Goa Active Forum, the team will remain in Kerala for five days.
There are four doctors headed by Dr Samuel Arwattgi and the other doctors are Dr Mariana Fernandes, Dr Kalyani Thomas and Dr Mrudulla Parkotian. Besides, there are four female nurses and two male nurses in the team while the rest are volunteers.
Goa Active Forum’s Chetan Raikar and Sachin Naik disclosed that they have taken a lot of drugs that include drugs to treat leptosporis that has been identified in the Chengannur district. Other drugs like anti-piratic, pain killers, antibiotics including doxocyclin, anti fungal drugs along with medicines for diabetes, hypertension and cough syrups have been taken.
“Some of the medical representatives helped us by giving drugs that were with them and various other people also donated drugs,” said Chetan Raikar adding that they have also taken linen, clothes including sarees which are all being carried in a separate truck while the team is travelling in a traveller. They are also taking 3,000 mineral water bottles.
The Forum was grateful to the government of Goa for making this relief camp possible and particularly North Goa Collector Levinson Martins, AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik and MLA Nilesh Naik for all the help given by them.
