PONDA: Around 2,500 households in Ponda to get piped natural gas (PNG) by May, disclosed the officials of Goa Natural Gas Pvt Ltd, on Monday.
The officials said, “2,500 households from Ponda town area have already registered themselves for PNG connections beside seven restaurants too applied for PNG connections.”
The work on launching piped natural gas lines for Ponda town commenced in the May 2017 at Tisk by former South Goa Member of Parliament Adv Narendra Sawaikar with Gas Authority of India Ltd starting the work of laying 25-km internal gas pipelines for the Ponda town. The Rs 120 crore project, is expected to benefit households as well as commercial units.
The charges will be just like the monthly electricity bills based on reading visible on the meters installed for gas connections.
The officials said, “Gas will be supplied from main District Regulation Station at Marcaim, from where the pipeline will reach to Ponda via Kundaim. Once the work on main line connecting Marcaim Distribution Centre to Curti is completed, the company will able to provide PNG to entire Ponda town. The officials said that they are expecting to complete the work by May.
