In Goa, 257 children went missing in 2008.
Out of a total of 22,361 children reported missing in 13 states and union territories, West Bengal reported the maximum of 11,092 missing children during 2008, followed by 2,955 in Karnataka and 2,644 in Gujarat, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
In Rajasthan, 2,447 children went missing whereas 1,206 cases were reported in Kerala.
A total of 845 children went missing in Haryana, 362 in Himachal Pradesh, 292 in Tripura, 118 from Chandigarh, 56 in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, 45 in Manipur and 12 in Arunachal Pradesh. Data from other states and union territories was not received, he said.
However, 20,048 missing children were traced during the period.
