VALPOI: The contract workers of PWD (water supply division), Valpoi, who haven’t been paid their salaries since last five months, have demanded that the PWD minister to look into the matter.
The water supply division has employed 26 workers on contract since last ten years. And these contract workers have reportedly not been paid their salaries regularly thereby subjecting them to severe financial difficulties.
These contract workers say that they repeatedly complained to the officers that their salaries are not being released regularly.
They also reportedly met the Assistant Engineer Eknath Paste demanding the release of their salaries.
When contacted, Paste said, “We have already submitted the contract workers salary file to the govt.”
“We are working on contract at the supply water supply division for the past many years, but we are not getting salary properly. So, now we want the PWD minister to regularise our services and release our salaries regularly,” Dashrath Gaonkar said.
“Since last five months, we are facing financial problems at home. Therefore, we demand that the government release our salaries regularly,” said Govind Sawant.
“Now we all will meet our local MLA and request him to solve our problems,” said Santosh Gaonkar, a contract worker.
