PANJIM:a In a tragic incident, Sujata Salgaonkar, 26 from Nachinola was killed after the scooter which she was riding came under the wheels a truck at Tivim on Saturday.
Incidently, it was her birthday yesterday. Both Sujata and the truck were proceeding towards Assnora from Tivim when the accident occurred. The truck dashed against the scooter from behind due to which Sujata lost control over her two wheeler and came under the wheels of the truck.
Sujata sustained serious injuries and was shifted to District Hospital, Mapusa but doctors declared her brought dead.
Meanwhile, the truck driver fled from the spot. The family members of Sujata reached Colvale Police Station and told the police that they will not accept the body unless the accused driver is arrested. The accused driver Kashinath Gawas, 39, who fled from the spot after the fatal accident was later arrested by the Colvale police and booked under section 279, 304 of the IPC and Section 134 (a), (b) of the MV Act.
