27 fatal accidents in April

PANJIM: As many as 27 persons lost their lives to accidents in April while at least 16 sustained grievous injuries. In the monthly report released by the Transport Department, out of 284 accidents, 24 were fatal resulting in deaths of 27 persons. Majority 18 fatal accidents were reported in the South district while six cases were in the North. 
Among those who lost their lives included 11 riders, 7 passengers, 6 pedestrians, one driver and cyclist each, and one in “other category.”
The State also saw 17 grievous accidents (North Goa – 6 and South Goa – 10), 71 minor accidents (NG–18 and SG– 53) and 173 non – injury accidents (NG–144 and SG– 59).  A total 4726 challans were issued by transport authorities for various offenses like helmetless riding, without seat belt, tinted glass, drunken driving, etc.
