 Margao shop burgled 

MARGAO: Unknown accused person effected entry in a shop at Margao on intervening night of March 25 to 26 and committed theft of Rs 15,000.
Faliciano Fernandes resident of Varca filed complaint that accused person effected entry in his shop at Quick Tyres Service, situated at Damodar Sal-Margao between by cutting window grill and committed theft of Rs 15,000.  Margao police have registered offence under sections 454,457,380 IPC and  PSI Girendra Naik is investigating.
Chicalim local’s bail rejected 
MARGAO: South Goa Additional District and Sessions Judge Vincent D’silva on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail application of accused Manuel Dias of Chicalim, who is wanted in the major furnace oil theft racket from the abandoned transhipper MT Pratibha Bheema currently anchored off Miramar beach.
Bicholim local ends life 
BICHOLIM: A 40-year-old resident of Vathadev-Sarvan, Bicholim, was found hanging at his residence on Wednesday.
According to Bicholim Police, the body of Ratnakar Matonkar was shifted to GMC morgue in Bambolim for post-mortem. PSI V R Korgaonkar is investigating the case.
Belarus national robbed 
TIVIM: Laptop and other items worth Rs 50,000, belonging to a Belarus national, were stolen at Deulwada-Arambol.
According to Pernem Police, Andrey Subbota, presently residing at Deulwada, complained that the accused entered into his rented room by breaking lock of the door and stole a laptop, one camera lens, one glue gun, drill, five necklaces, 25 hats and five bags containing clothes, all worth Rs 50,000. PSI V S Chodankar is investigating the case.
Scooter stolen at Guirim
PORVORIM: A scooter was reported stolen from Parashtewado-Guirim.
According to Mapusa Police, Parshuram Pawar of Guirim complained that some persons stole his scooter (GA-03-E-6118), worth about Rs 16,000, which was parked in an open parking place. Head Constable S A Gaonkar is investigating the case.
Senior citizens forum panel formed
VALPOI: Khutboddin Khan was elected as president of the Forum for Senior Citizens (Sattari), while Haroon Shah was elected as secretary.
The other committee members are Badruddin Shaikh (treasurer), Abdul Majeed Aga (vice-president), Shaikh Karamoddin (joint-secretary), Kanta Gaonkar (ex-officio member), Ladulo Gawas, Uttam Gawas, Shabbar Khan, Shaikh Mohammad Ali, Sr Pramila and DA Kulkarni (members).
The general body meeting of the Forum was organised recently at Valpoi to elect new committee and also to solve the grievances of senior citizens in Sattari.
Free surgical consultation camp 
PANJIM: Dr Pralhad Savaikar, a specialist in laparoscopic surgery, has opened a clinic named Aditya Minimal Access Surgal Centre-MASC – near Geeta Bakery, above Royal only Chiken, Panjim. He is available for consultation on all evenings from 4 to 7 pm. Laparoscopic also known as key-hole surgery is a super specialty surgery where in there is no need to make a big cut on the abdomen. Tiny holes are made through which a camera can be introduced into the abdomen and surgery performed by looking at the monitor. Advantages of key-hole surgeries are less pain, less blood loss, early discharge from the hospital, no big scar on the body, fast recovery, cost effective. A free surgical and urology consultation camp is arranged by MASC on March 30 between 9.30 am and 1 pm.
Rally organised to observe TB day
PANJIM: Urban Health Centre, Panjim, organised a rally to observe World Tuberculosis Day, recently. The rally was flagged off by medical officer in-charge Dr Kalpana Mahatme in presence of Dr Rajendra Kanekar, Dr Alita D’Souza and others. The rally proceeded from Azad Maidan, National Theatre, Church Square, Dr A B Road, CCP and culminated back at Azad Maidan. At the Azad Maidan the rally was addressed by Dr Atul Pai Bir who also informed all participants of this years’ theme – “Reach the 3 Millions, Find, Treat and Cure Them of TB”. Every year, of the cases identified, one third that is three million cases are missed by health systems. It was imperative to ensure that these are captured and treated to rid India of TB and make it TB free. At least 60 students from Kasturba High School attended the rally.

PANJIM: Melody Waves has released its audio CD entitled “Goenche Rakhandar” covering almost all major Gods/Goddess of Goa. These devotional songs have been written by Gurudas Kamat and are sung by Ajitkumar Kadkade. ICG to observe Earth Hour
PANJIM: Earth Hour will be observed at The International Centre Goa (ICG), Dona Paula on March 29. Earth Hour is observed to express people’s commitment to move towards a low carbon intensive lifestyle, thereby reducing the effects of climate change.
All-Goa dance competition
PANJIM: An all-Goa dance competition will be held at Sateri Mandap hall, Aivao, Dona Paula on March 29, from 10 pm, on the occasion of annual ‘zatrotsav’ of Diety Sateri. CME in Cytology held at GMC
PANJIM: The Department of Pathology, Goa Medical College, Bambolim in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Cytologists organized an International CME in Cytology at Goa Medical College recently. The faculty was Dr Ashish Chandra, Head of Cytopathology and Urological Histopathology, Department of Cellular Pathology, Guys and St Thomas Hospital, NHS (National Health Services) Foundation Trust, London, United Kingdom and examiner for Royal College of Pathologists and coordinator for courses of British Association of Cytology  and Royal College of Pathologists, UK. The CME was chaired by Dr R G Wiseman Pinto. The topics covered were Cytology of the urinary tract, upper and lower, serous effusions, effusions in adenocarcinoma, malignant melanoma and mesothelioma.
