286 accidents, 21 deaths registered in March

PANJIM: On an average, the State reported nine accidents daily in March as the month registered a total 286 accidents and 21 fatalities. 

The Directorate of Transport’s monthly report for March 2921 reveals that out of 286 road accidents, 150 were reported in North Goa and 136 in South Goa. 

Of total lives lost, eight were reported in North Goa while 13 in South Goa. They included 14 riders – 5 (NG) and 9 (SG), one pillion rider, two drivers, three pedestrians and one passenger. 

Fatal accidents that occurred are 20 and number of grievous accidents are 14 whereas 35 minor accidents and 217 non-injury accidents occurred in both districts. The number of people grievously injured in both the districts is 23 while 69 persons suffered minor injuries.

The Transport Department’s report also mentions that a total 1,133 challans were issued by the authorities in March.
