29 new cases take active tally to 625

PANJIM: After a marginal gap, nine fresh COVID-19 cases have been reported in containment zone Mangor Hill, with the State recording 29 new positive cases on Saturday. Also, Curtorim continued to be yet another hotspot with five new cases. 

As per the bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services (DHS), two new cases have been reported that are linked to Mangor Hill and one with a travel history. In all 11 patients have recovered, taking the State’s active case tally to 625. 

Of 2,920 samples tested, 29 tested positive, while the result of 1,706 reports is negative. The reports of 1,185 samples are awaited. 

With nine fresh cases in the containment zone, Mangor Hill now has 322 COVID cases, while 183 cases are linked to the zone. Vaddem in Vasco, also reported three new cases linked to the containment zone. 

Curtorim, where a private medical practitioner tested positive, reported five new cases, taking its tally to 17. 

Health Secretary Nila Mohanan told media persons that the government is continuously monitoring the containment and micro-containment zones. 

No new cases were reported in Indiranagar in Chimbel (4), Ambelim (6), Betim (1), Porvorim (1), Raia (7) and Quepem (4). 

Health Director Dr Jose D’Sa clarified that there are no cases reported in Chinchinim and all are in Ambelim. “Our health bulletin mentioned Chinchinim because of the public health centre that caters to Ambelim area,” he said. Further, with 11 patients cured, the total recovered are 129. 

On Saturday, 190 inter-state domestic travellers and 50 international travellers were placed under home quarantine while 38 were under facility quarantine. Another 21 suspects are under hospital isolation.
