PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said all those involved in the land grabbing cases, even the government officers will be arrested.
“There are at least 3-4 government officers involved in the land scams and, if the need be, they will be arrested. SIT is receiving several new cases and the investigators will reach to the root of the first case,” he said.
The CM said that there are instances in which culprits have completed all the formalities of transfer of properties within one day. These cases will also be brought to logical conclusion and more people will be brought to book.
Meanwhile, with the number of FIRs in the land grab cases rising, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been strengthened with government allotting additional staff for carrying out thorough investigation.
In an order issued on Tuesday, the Goa Police included 22 policemen comprising three police inspectors, five police sub inspectors, two assistant sub inspectors, two head constables and remaining 10 constables to the current team.
The new batch has been asked to report to the SIT office in Ribandar on June 22, 2022 at 10 am from where they will be assigned duties.
The SIT headed by IPS officer, SP (Crime Branch) Nidhin Valsan, till now comprised South Goa Deputy Collector Snehal Prabhu, DySP Braz Menezes, PI Satish Gaude, PI (IRB) Nilesh Shirodkar and representatives from the Department of Archaeology and State Registrar.
