VALPOI: Three electricity poles which were old and in dilapidated condition came down crashing on the main road causing traffic jam for four hours and snapping off power supply in the Savardem Village Panchayat area, on Wednesday.
According to Velus villagers, all electricity poles from the village are very old and are in a dilapidated condition, since past several years.
The villagers have already informed Valpoi Electricity Department and Valpoi Municipal Council to replace the poles but they have not taken any action as yet, said a local.
“The Valpoi Electricity Department are not doing the maintenance work properly,” claimed the locals. “Due to the fallen poles in Velus village, there are no streetlights and no power supply in Savardem Village Panchayat area,” said Vinod Gurav,
a villager.
