PANJIM: Days after the price of domestic LPG was raised by Rs 50 a cylinder, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Goa announced three free LPG cylinders per year to all households from April 1.
The cabinet under Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant that held its first meeting on Monday approved the scheme to provide three free cylinders per year to every household.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Sawant said that the scheme will be notified shortly and it will come into force from April 1, this year. “We have to work on the scheme like fixing income limit of beneficiaries, etc,” said Sawant.
This was one of the major poll promises of the BJP in its manifesto.
Sawant said that the cabinet also accorded its nod to the Governor’s address, which will be delivered before the Goa Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
