Quepem Judicial Magistrate First Class Cholu Gawas has sentenced three persons from of Hubli-Karnataka for two years simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 200 each, after convicting them in a theft case.
According to the prosecution, Samir (Tanvir) Sayyad (22) and his accomplices Imtiaz Gokak (19) and Salim Bhaikatti Shaikh (20) broke into a medical store at Jamnadas Building, Curchorem on the intervening night of September 18 and 19, 2008 and decamped with cosmetics and medicines and cash amounting to Rs 17,018.
After preliminary investigation, Investigating Officer Peter Fernandes charge sheeted the trio for offences under Sections 380 and 457 rw 34 IPC.
The prosecution examined four witnesses, including the complainant Bipin Saglani. After going through the deposition of the witnesses and arguments advanced, the court held the accused guilty and sentenced the trio for the offence.
