3 hurt in knife attack at Candolim

CALANGUTE: Three persons were left with serious injuries after they were  assaulted with a knife at Orda, Candolim, in the early hours of Friday. Calangute police have registered an offence of attempt to murder against Sam Maikar Rathod and others in this connection. 

The injured persons have been identified as Mithun Pawar,  Ajit Rathod and Ashok Chavan. All three have been admitted to the GMC Bambolim. The incident took place near the ice factory. 

Ajit Rathod has lodged a complaint with Calangute police that at around 2am on Friday, accused person, Sam Maikar Rathod, attacked his friend Mithun Pawar with a knife on his head, causing bleeding injuries, thereby attempting to kill him. 

The accused, along with three others, also attacked Ajit Rathod and Ashok Chavan with a knife causing them injuries.

The assault took place due to previous enmity, police said. The four assailants escaped from the spot after the incident. Calangute police have registered an offence of attempt to murder under sections 307 and 324 IPC. Further investigations are on.
