MARGAO: Three Salcete villages at their gram sabhas held on Sunday agreed to permit erection of mobile towers in the village including the Rumdamoll Davorlim panchayat that had earlier resolved to demolish an existing mobile tower that was constructed in 2008.
Rumdamoll Davorlim gram sabha today resolved to permit Mustafa Dodamani erect the mobile tower of Synaptiuc Integrated that was objected to earlier by the villagers. It may be recalled that at the gram sabha held on August 6, 2017, the villagers had not only objected to the erection of the new tower but had even demanded that the existing one near Maruti temple be demolished.
Incidentally, the Rumdamoll Davorlim gram sabha asked the panchayat to initiate demolition proceedings against the construction coming up near the Hari Temple as the panchayat has not issued any construction licence for whatever is being constructed. The plinth is laid and iron bars can be seen installed for a pillar.
The villagers of Chandor Cavorim in principle agreed that a mobile tower was required in the village to provide connectivity since the villagers were suffering from connectivity problem. The villagers have accepted the BSNL proposal to erect a tower at Bobcol near the cremation guide.
However, as the panchayat disclosed that it had received an incomplete proposal from one Indus company through one villager to set up a mobile tower, the villagers resolved to ask for a complete application from the company and also invite other service providers to give their proposals for a mobile tower and at a subsequent gram sabha the best offer would be approved.
At Sarzora while the villagers outright rejected the proposal by Reliance company to set up a Jio tower in the village, they agreed to the BSNL offer of erecting a tower provided it was not in a residential area. It was decided to finalise the matter at a special gram sabha to be convened after BSNL identifies the place where it will erect the tower.
