As Goa Medical College and
Hospital, was found overloaded with patients, with some sleeping on mattresses
on the floor, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane stated that three wards are allotted to the Department of Medicine at the Super-Specialty block of Goa Medical College. He said that the GMC doctors
analysed the number of referrals coming to GMC from peripheral hospitals. Guidelines
will be given to the peripheral hospitals stating that patients who could be
managed by them should not be referred to GMC, Vishwajit said.
