3 women held for attempting to steal cash from wine shop

VASCO: The Vasco police on Sunday arrested three women whom were involved in stealing cash from a wine shop at Baina with the help of a minor girl.

The incident occurred in the morning when three women identified as Nandini Kumbhar (18), Sutukala Kale (40) and Pallavi Shinde (29) along with two minors, all from Pune entered a wine shop situated in the Valmiki Business Centre, Baina on the pretext of buying beer. 

While one of the kept the salesman Vijay Kumar Bind busy, another woman sent the minor girl near the drawer and took away Rs 1800. 

However the salesman suspected something fishy as one was speaking in Hindi and the other in Marathi. He then turned around and caught the girl stealing money from the counter. By then all the accused along with two children fled from the spot but not before the entire incident was captured on CCTV. 

Later, the shop owner downloaded the CCTV footage and handed it over to the Vasco police, who nabbed the gang near the railway station.

The Vasco police have registered a case against the three women under section 260 read with 34 IPC while, their two children — a seven-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy have been kept at the  Apna Ghar. 

The police suspect that two more women and two men are also a part of this gang and are on their lookout. All the accused are believed to be beggars.
